B-QUIET "Brown bread" ? (Dynamat alternative)
#31
Well, yesterday I started working on the car again, and I was able to cover the inner skin of the doors, and partially cover the rest of the doors (see pics). Then I ran out of material. I will order more and I will resume the project again. Now I have to fully cover the trunk area, finish the doors, do the firewall, and lay a second layer on the floor. Looks like I'll need one more 70sq feet roll of Brown Bread.
Here's one door. You can see that I was too lazy to remove the black goo. I don't think it matters that much... (I hope )
This is the trunk area - partially done on day one.
This is the same door - finished (for now).

Martin-
You should be very proud of your work! It is very impressive!! If you kept it, you might want to consider putting the water barrier back on. I try to do stuff like that so the dealership can't try to declare I have voided the warrenty.
And don't feel bad on the dash- It took me several days to figure it out and take it out, including the blowers and most of the coils.
Great Job and Bravo!!

Too late for the water barrier -- I got rid of it on day one. Gone! No problem though. I don't have warranty on the car, so who cares...
Today I reinstalled everything. My front doors rattle a little, but that's because I could not reinstall the covers very well. I'm gonna work on that later. I don't have a sub, but my license plate rattles like crazy!!! This is the first thing I'm going to cover with brown bread on the next round.
Overall, I think there IS an improvement. I have more bass from the rear speakers... and the whole sound seems a little clearer now.
Now I'm going to take the car for a ride and listen carefully.
Thanks for everything Dave. You helped me a lot!
PS. I have to find a repair manual in order to remove the dash. I don't think I can do it by myself.

Well, I've been listening for the past two days and I am either going deaf or there really IS an improvement (a reduction in road noise). Although I have covered the floor with only one layer of brown bread, I really think that there is a noticeable improvement (I hope!!! otherwise I'm going deaf ).
I can't wait to lay one more layer, cover the firewall, etc. But, maybe I'll have to wait for a week or so before I order more BB. We'll see...
