Can anyone recommend some aftermarket

Can anyon recommend some aftermarket speakers for the P5? I have the 6cd changer, whicn im happy about, but I would like to get some new speakers. I have some Sony Xplode 6x9 that are about 2 years old from my old vehicle, but i dont think I can do anything with those.

Anyone want to recommend anything, im all ears . Again, I want to keep the factory 6cd changer, so all I need is speakers. Thanks.

i would say do a search, but I'm sure you already did this. I would recommend some MB Quarts. I have posted the model numbers and other stuff in what seems like 100 threads. Infinity, Polk and Kenwood also make great stuff.

I dont have them installed in the P5, since they are 6x9s. They sound pretty good when I had them in my other vehicle tho...

You might be able to stuff those 6x9s in the front dors - I've read about 6x8s being installed with no problem, and plan on doing that myself soon. If you've got the time, pop the door panel and check it out - size, rear clearance, etc. Maybe you don't need new speakers after all.

Kappa Infiniti or Kenwood

But for low price I think pioneer is good. Had em in the old Grand Am all around. Never a problem. Right now Im sticking with stock speakers until I blow something.

My last car was a '95 Grand Am, what a POS! I had nothing but problems with it, and the last straw was when the head gaskets blew and ruined the engine!

I had Pioneers in the front, and the Sony Xplode in the back. The head unit was a Panasonic, it sounded pretty good. I may get Pioneer to fit the P5 speakers. I dont think I want to try to put the Sonys in the P5, it may be to much trouble... Thanks for the idea tho...

It really depends on whether what are you going to use to drive those speakers. If you are going to stick with the factory head unit, I wouldn't recommend anything expensive. The factory head unit is really weak in power and I'm sure you'll be disappointed if you expect a big improvement after spending over $300 US for speakers (just won't get your money's worth).

If you're going to keep the factory 6CD changer, that probably means that you have to keep the factory head unit. The most cost effective option then is to add an amp to drive a sub and upgrade to Kenwood or Pioneer speakers (good for the money and pretty easy to drive).

The thing is that you have to use a converter to convert your speaker outputs to lo-level RCA or get an amp that takes in hi-level inputs (for the sub).

Just MHO

Go for some Kenwoods you can get them pretty cheap on ebay, as far as fit go with 6X8(6x9 won't fit without serious mods) in front and 6.5 in rear door. With them it does not take a whole lot to drive.

LOL!!! I had the same thing. Drove home from DC and the antifreeze shot into the oil. Mazda dealer gave me $1200 for it.

I recommend DEI's Studio Series for high end and should be used with an amp, and thier Pro+ Series for mid level good for both amp'd or HU powered systems.

Great sounding speakers that won't bust a whole in your wallet.

I have installed Boston Acoustics- their 5x7/6x8 component seperates in the front, and a pair of their two way 6x9 on the rear deck. Run via a JL amp, nice quality sound, and a pretty easy install. I would recommend them to anyone. They could be run off the head unit alone, but there are not a lot of watts in the Mazda unit.

what do you want from your sounds? and how much do you wanna spend? are you powering it off the hu or amp? in any case here are some pretty low cost choices:

off the hu (coaxials):
infinity reference (i prefer these over kappas anyways)
jl audio vr
fusion
gs redline (the BEST for the money!)
kenwood
alpine

off an amp (component speakers):
infinity kappa/reference
gs redline
fusion

i'd go with gs redline or fusion cause they have a really sweet sound compared to all these other "big name" companies but are really cheap. remember, the fronts are 5x7/6x8 and the rear is 6.5's. if you plan to use comps upfront i would suggest an amp.
