Can we put stickers on tail lights?
just smallish ones. They don't cover the entire light or is this illegal? They are vinyl tribal design decals that I want to stick on the rear lights. Anybody know the legality for certain, not just something you have heard?

Tail light covers are illegal...even those sold by Dodge for their own trucks. It depends on the cop on whether or not he chooses to ignore them.
Stickers would also be illegal as covering any part of your tail lights with anything is considered "modifying" the original part. Heck, a splash of mud on your tail lights could get you at least a warning from a cop...though, they're usually more understanding about those...

yes.. "SOME" cops are ********, i knew someone that got pulled over becuase he had too much mud on his car (this was after like a week of blizzarding and stuff) that is rediculous, if they "think" that your tail lights are not visible enought they can give you a ticket

I know this is an old thread and this post is a little off-topic but you guys should move to dangerous neighborhoods where cops can see you smoking a blunt and not give a ****....that just kills me that some places out there are so peaceful yet cops still find a way to **** people off

It is illegal to place anything the covers your tail lights whether it is tail light covers or decals. Most cops will let it go but State boys are usually the worst. I new a girl that had the neon license plate ring and she got pulled over in front of the store she bought it at (weeks later). She told the cop "I bought it in there how is this illegal." He informed her that it is not illegal to sell them, nor is it illegal to have them. but it is illegal to use them. They are for show use only. The same goes for tail light covers and headlight covers. If you look on the box it clearly states "Illegal in some states - For off-road or show use only".
I personally wouldn't push it (I hate state troopers) but it is up to you.

as said, illegal, don't attract attention to yourself if not needed. ie excessive tinting, loud sound systems, lights, stickers in the rear window, just about everything the car don't come stock with cops can nit-pick about. i've seen people get pulled over for less, avoid the stickers.
ps. have a buddy with a 2-door civic hatch and has those damn super street sickers on his rear tail lights... ultra-rice is what we call him

Just googling this because I want to put these on my taillights. The idea is that they will be illuminated with my taillights or breaks.
