cannot get the Head Unit out...

Hi guys,

I'm all set to put all my stuff in, but i cannot get the head unit out. I purchased the tools from wal-mart, two sets, and the drivers side does not release. I cant get it out at all. i took out the middle part...where the tape player would go for a handle. It does not release tho. i'm thinking of just taking it to best buy or circuit city ... didnt want it to come to that. anybody have any ideas ?

When you put the radio removal tools in, you should hear them click into place. Make sure you are inserting the tools properly - both tools should share the middle hole on each side of the factory unit. Try inserting them at a slight angle, with the ends of the tools pointing towards the outside of the radio.

To remove, push each of the 4 tools towards the sides of the radio. If you have each of the clips held by the tool ends, it will pop right out.

You may have a bent clip on the drivers side of the unit that is not being caught by the removal tools. Unfortunately, the driver's side does not have good access.

If all else fails, get a pro to remove it for you. Cost should be very reasonable. Some owners have gotten the dealer to pull the radio for them for free.

Good luck.
