Custom colored-chrome wheel covers

I'm helping spread the word about a friend's company, Laser Chrome, and also helping find out what the auto enthusiasts out there want.

First, the whats and wherefores...

Laser Chrome does custom chrome coloring on wheel covers. It's not like chrome dye at all though - the colors are VERY sharp and bright, and the chrome shines through beautifully. The colors can be chosen to match (or contrast) the car.

Website is here: http://www.laserchrome.com/

There's a picture gallery on the site with samples of the colored wheel covers, and several styles of cover can be ordered online.

They look awesome (the pics on the site really don't do these things justice) and are a LOT less expensive than chrome wheels - might be a useful tideover if you want custom wheels but don't have the few thousand bucks lying around.

Now, the Qs to the community...

That said, what kinds of colored-chrome pieces would Protege owners be most interested in having available? Is there any interest in coloted-chrome accents and trim? How 'bout under-the-hood goods in colored chrome?

Under the hood would be nice.. I have a few things though... Is that just hubcaps, or can they do anything?

And this somewhat bothers me "These outrageous finishes are treated and should never fade in normal use. We even guarantee them against fading in normal use for ONE YEAR. We also guarantee you've never seen anything like 'em."

If they say they should never fade, why only a one year guarantee?

The fellow that started the company is concentrating on the caps for now, since it's something he can work hard numbers with (actual stock, actual expenses, etc.) I suspect that once the company gets off its feet they'll be expanding into accessories and badges and so on.

L.C. can do custom work on just about anything with a decent enough finish - I'm trying to talk the owner into doing a brushed-aluminum computer case for me, for example. They're just concentrating on stockable products for the initial startup since custom work is so unpredictable when it comes to the how much and how often.

As for the warranty, the finish should theoretically last for half a decade or more. The chrome will probably start to rust through or something before the finish fades. But, since there are lots of factors outside the company's control that can adversely affect the longevity, they were advised to keep the warranty shorter than the expected lifespan of the finish. (90 days was the initial suggestion but that seemed FAR too short.)
