are all decks a standard size?
i want to get the Kenwood KMD-44 (minidisc deck), but am scared it won't fit in my 1999 Protege. i can't find any size info on the deck.
thanks.

That deck should fit fine - looks to be a standard DIN size (stock stereo is double DIN, as in two of those Kenwoods could fit one on top of another).
The width of aftermarket units is fairly standard, so they can fit in a wide range of cars. That deck will fit fine - you will just need either the available install kit (I think Metra makes one) or a pocket (like a standard aftermarket one, or the one from the MazdaSpeed, MP3, or late 90's Protege.)

HiHoslva is right that will fit fine. I wish all decks were one size, it would make life easier! the front end dimentions are fairly standard for height and width, but folks mess about with lenght a lot!
I would not dispair though, most of the time one can get a spacer ring that will get a deck to fit, even if it is as long as an aircraft carrier.
Let us know what you decide on!
