Did I get the wrong f'ing touchup paint?

Alright, so I'm applying my touchup paint (Laser blue mica for the MP3) and it looks a bit off when on the car. I look at the paint code on the bottle. It says "24". The panel on the door says "24A". Is this not the right thing? The paint looks like it would match when inside the bottle, but it just seems a bit off after its applied... Help!?

BTW, I tried the toothpick method and being all **** like on carcareonline.com. That is just NOT for me. How much would it cost to get some scratches/small chips fixed for from somebody who knows what they're doing?

first thing I would have to ask is where did you get the touch-up paint at? is this MAZDA touch-up paint? as in you got it at the dealer? Why I ask....is that Mazda didn't have a paint with the code of "24", they have/had 24A, 24B, 24E, and 24V.....of course the only one that was blue was 24A.....SO, if you got the paint somewhere other than a dealer...it MAY be why its a different color......

then again...many times paint looks a bit different color when its wet, versus when it dries.....

SirNuke,
I got it from the dealer. The sticker on top of the cover of the bottle says "24" not 24A like the door says. So is this definitely different? I should complain and have them remove the crap and do the touchup for my trouble.

well like I said....as far as I could find....mazda doesn't have a "24" paint code...there is always a letter after it....I think its worth your time and trouble to go back to the dealer and make an inquiry. make them show you the listing in the computer that shows the part number and the name.....LAZER BLUE MICA.....THAT is what I would do.......for if they were just going off of the 24 number how do they know WHICH paint it is? it could be GREEN for all they know.

Sir Nuke,
I went back today and confirmed this. They assured me it was the right one. So I called a different dealer and they tried looking it up. He had no idea what a MP3 was. What he did try doing was entering the part number "24" into the computer and "24A" as well. "24" was the only one it came up with, and he said it mentioned Miata. Now I'm really beginning to think this is wrong...

TheMAN,
So are you saying the 24 has nothing to do with the paint code? Or are you saying the 24 is the prefix of the paint code? Just wanted to clarify ... Thanks.

I guess sometimes these limited edition cars just aren't worth it! Nobody ever knows what the hell I'm talking about with them
...

Im also planning to get a new lip spoiler painted soon,

Please let me know,
thanks.

I'm sure that the paint is right, it's just that after it dries the color becomes more light and doesn't quiute look the same. If you wanna check if its the right color, get some water and pour it over the spot you touched up. If the touchup paint looks like the factory paint it's the right color. The color allways appears "different" when it doesn't have clear over it. When you just touch it up it's always going to be noticeable unless it's somewhere that it can't be seen.

Depending on how bad the scratches are is going to determine the price if it isn't through the clear it won't be too bad. If the scratch goes beyond the clear the whole panel is going to have to be painted, or at least cleared. The more scratches on the same panel would be cheaper than 4 scratches spread around the car. If it has to be re-painted.
