You should be able to just pull the pocket out. If not, remove your deck - then you can grab the pocket from behind (oh baby ) for good leverage.
I know on the 2002s, the pocket (should be the same pocket) has a support "pin" that latches into a brace behind the dash. You might need to get at this pin, because the "latch" mechanism has a tendency to fit pretty tightly.
Best bet is to pull the deck first - you'll have much better access to the pocket and should have an easy time with it after that.

the pocket is out
actually, the pocket was pretty easy to get out. i took a little flat head, about 3 inches long, put it between the little gap on the side of the pocket, there is one on each side. and basically pushed ont he flat head a little bit and the pocket just popped out. pretty easy. spent 3 hours trying to figure that out. but at least now i know.
hope this helps anyone out in the future.
