Lightbulb Dying cloth seats (Attn: Hihoslva)

I'm very interested in seeing if there is a way to dye the center of our cloth seats silver, to match the color that hihoslva painted his dash.
Do you know of anyway to drastically change the color of our seats like that?
It'll look awesome if we can figure out something that is fairly easy to use.
I was thinking that I could remove my seats, tape them off, and spray the center like I would paint anything else.
Let me know if you can think of anything

I found this site, but I'm not sure if it's what I'm looking for

that website you had there has this about their products:

How About Carpets?....Color Coat is formulated to enhance and restore faded carpet color, not to do a drastic color change.

I would think the seats would react the same as carpets

I know I might not be 100% right on this one, but I do remember watching Trucks! on TNN and the guys were doign interior work on an old Blazer. The original color was dark red, or maroon, but they just bought new black leather seats. So what they did, they took some black show polished and brush, and brushed it right in on carpets and/or panels. Now I realize it is easy to dye anything black. But if anyone out there knows how to do the opposite, I lend you my ears.

Well, this is quite an interesting solution, but the guy seemed to be pretty happy about it. Don't shoot the messenger!

I could get to see the pics. Bah, stupid geocities! But from what I have read, he just spray painted seats with a "fabric" paint. I would personally take some extra time, and brush the paint in. Perhaps it looks better, though since I have yet to see those pics, I will not give any opinions. Thanks for the link, though.

I've seen the pictures and they look pretty good. I'm not sure if they sell fabric paint in a can though, it may only be avaliable in the spray can? I dunno.... It was certainly interesting, that's for sure!

although it might be a little more pricey. Ever think about just replacing the actual fabric and an upholstery place. Dont flame me, i know that this might be a little more $$ than a few bottles of paint but honestly. it will probably look better and you dont have to worry about the paint rubbing off(even if it says it wont). and it will also just look so much more nicer if you just get it done. But this is just my opinion, personally i would go with the upholstering (how do i spell that??) but i wouldnt do it cuz of the $$$. So, therefore, i wouldnt do this mod. haha, just my 2 cents. But it would look pretty tight with a silver middle. Tell us what you decide on

Sry dude - didn't see the "attn: hiho" thing until now.....

Was that because I might be interested, or because you thought I'd have info? I really have no info. But it is an interesting idea.

I would say that the fabric replacement for $500 is a TOTAL ripoff. You can buy leather seats for $700 - all FOUR seats, and get the center section in silver if you wanted it. $500 for fabric is outrageous.

I think I'd stay away from the paint. Unless you could take the fabric completely off the seats, paint them, then throw them in the washing machine or something - and repeat this process until the paint stays and looks nice. Otherwise, Id think you would have a silver *** - the paint is going to rub off.

I think it would look awesome to have the silver center, but might be more hassle or money than it's worth.
