Exclamation Eclipse Head Unit

I was looking into getting an Eclipse AVN5435 for my 2004 Protege ES. Crutchfield.com says that it will not fit. It looks like it should be the perfect size for the double sized hole in my dash. I was just wondering if anyone had an input or experience trying to make one of these fit before i spend 1700 bucks and try and custom fit it?

Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the club!

Check the depth of your dash. If it's too shallow, your HU won't fit. Maybe you could make a spacer for a little extra depth, but your dash would probably end up looking pretty ghetto. Eclipse HUs are nice stuff, though. Good luck!

BTW: There's no such animal as an '04 Protege.

Thanks for some direction! I am ripping my rear doors off tonight to install some speakers, so i might as well take the head unit out and check into the depth! I pulled the Eclipse HU specs off their website and will compare and contrast...

BTW sorry about the 2004 I can never remember what year it is...

Thanks again!
