Front Downforcers

Well, they probably don't work worth craqp, but they certainly look interesting... maybe even good. I was wondering if anyone had some thoughts on these pieces of hardware?

i had canards and those splitters on my altima i'm gonna put em on my protege eventually ....as to weather or not they work i couldn't tell ya at regular speeds they do nothing at higher speeds they're supposed to add downforce to your front end they seemed to work a lil bit on my altima when you got above like 80 or 90 but maybe thats just my imagination..lol i bought them mostly for asthetic value anyway cuz they look tight to me
peace

I had them on my civic hatchback until a speedbump ripped them off . I didnt notice any difference, you might feel it a speeds above 100mph. I think they are mostly for looks

Let me rephrase... I know that they probably have no aerodynamic qualities to them, but would they look cool on my car?

I think it would look pertty cool but I dont know about on your car. It might look out of place.
The sport 20 bumper is pretty round and so are the side skirts, these things would look great on a more edgy kit like the ms one.

i dont know how good it would look with the sport 20 bumper, espeically those ones. I would say get some that are more round and simpler maybe like this

i think they look horrible....mainly because I think the most beautiful cars are the ones that are most functional....Less is more with me.

p.s. remember adding non-functional aero-dynamics pieces is the quickest most sure-fire way to being called a ricer...be carefull when purchasing CF sticky pieces and fake body pieces.

I think they can look pretty sweet if a ride is really fixed up, but it shouldn't be one of those "first mod" kind of things....I have a friend with a bmw 325ci slammed on 19s with a nice kit, and those things make it look more complete, but it would just look stupid on a stock or almost stock car.

Okay, next question... Since we all know that large rear wings are frowned upon and will slow you down before it gives you more downforce, does anyone know of a FRONT aerodynamic device for our car that actually might work? That's what I was hinting at with the carbon downforcers, but frankly I was also looking at them as a style accent piece to go with my hood and tailights.

I think the main problem we have is not traction or downforce. It's the power we need to overcome the stock aerodynamics. I've driven both my proteges well over 120nph and never felt like I was floating or lifting any... I don't think this is a problem at all for our cars.

if u want a fully functional front downforcer, go get an actual wind splitter like they use on the world challenge proteges, they are for sale for about a grand at corksport i wanna say. =O but thats a bit high for me, and yah its going to be the same thing as a wing ur gonna need to really be going fast before u will feel anything, i had to do like 85 before i could feel something outta my wing, so its kinda pointless besides looks.

those splitters that go on the bottom are more for directing air towards the brakes anyway the ones that are"supposed" to add down force are canards heres a pic of them on my altima again their more for show on a regular car but i think they look tight i want a wing like an evo or STI for my car unfunctional yes but it looks tight!!

well keep in mind a wing is never gonan be totally unfunctional, just like splitters, and canards arn't going to be unfunctional, they are always going to add more downforce granted ull have to be going at LEAST highway speeds to achieve that downforce u will still be better planted to the ground than a car without them. also with splitters like those that go under the way they are shaped they will just guide more air to the brakes as pro said, but hey thats always a good thing which is why i need to get canards and splitters now. but then there are still those splitters that do add front downforce like they have on the world challenge proteges.
World Challenge Wind Splitter Price: $1020.00 (nice little price tag lol)
