front & rear speaker opinions
thanks to all who replied to my first post. I'm going to replace the fronts and rears on my '02 ES. But, I'd really prefer to get direct replacements requiring no modifications. So, If anyone knows how to access the front and rear speakers I'd be VERY greateful. Th can see the rears are screwed in from the inside but I don't know how to get the rear grills off the deck. I also don't know how to get the covers off the fronts. I do not want to mess up the 3 week old interior so any help would be appreciated.
Now, on to my current questions:
I'm going to go looking tonight at Best Buy. They ran an ad here in NY yesterday that is great timing for me: Buy one pair of speakers and get the second at half price. The problem is the rears. According to Crutchfield, the ONLY 6x9 that fits the stock holes without modification is a marine speaker from Bazooka.
Fronts: I'll have to see what Best Buy carries but my short shopping list for direct requiring no modification is:
1) Kenwood KFC6808C 6x9 3-way. 30-30,000HZ, 92dB.
2) Pioneer TS-A6895 6x8 2-way. 30-32,000Hz, 91dB.
3) Infinity Kappa 572.3 cf 5x7 2-way. 40-21,000, 90dB.
4) Kenwood eXcelon KFC-X688C 6x8 2-way. 30-32000, 92dB.
Price at Crutchfield ranges from 89.95 for the first Kenwood to 149.95 for the Infinity, and Kenwood eXcelon. I don't know what Best Buy's price will be. But, even if it's more, the 1/2 off the second pair will more than equal it out.
Any comments on the above and HOW'S ABOUT SOME RECOMMENDATIONS FOR THE REAR 6X9 IF ANYONE HAS EXPERIENCE with them.
Based just on the numbers, it seems my order of preference would be 4,1,2,3.
Thanks,
Ron B.

Well, if i had to choose from only those 4, then Infinity gets my vote.
I'm quite sure there are plenty of other options out there for 6x9s...
Beware of the install at big chain stores..not all are bad, just fair warning.

the refernece line does sound excellant for the price. Someone on here is selling a whole MP3 system for $400. That would include all 4speakers, sub, and the Kenwood MP3 deck. The speakers themsevles would cost well over $250. The deck is well over $700 new. Its a great deal and I may get it because I want the deck to replace my Kenwood. Maybe we can work something out with him about seperating the package.....

If you have the sedan you can go with 1 6.5 in each door and 2 6x9's on the rear deck. Go with infinity, you can check out how I ran my speaker wire on my website, the website is under contruction but has pics.
