Gauges...help!

I have a '02 Pro DX and I do not have the tach in with the gauges. I was wondering if I could just buy a LX or ES gauge cluster and install it. Would the wiring be the same and just click into place or would I need to mess around and spend $ to get it done.

Thanks for all your help.

i'm in the same situation, i have heard that the cluster w/tach has the same 3 harnesses as wout/tach so it could be a simple swap, but i am not sure if there are extra wires in those harnesses for the tach, I would assume that you would have to get some new wires with it. Since I installed the white face gauges I am getting a tach installed seperate so i never bothered looking into it further, i would go to a mazda dealership and ask in the parts department.

Thanks! I also have a 2 5/8" tachometer on the dash but it is not enough...sometimes I forget to look when I am playing around. It would be nice to have a larger one right beside the speedo if you know what I mean.

I had the same problem with my 99 Protege LX but when i went to replace my guages (since they are hard to find), i had tried some from a 2000 model and a 2001 model, and even though the plugs in the back were the same, when i plugged it in, some of the lights on the guage cluster would remain on, my fuel quantity guage wouldnt work either, and the temp indicator was always on overheat. Im pretty sure you will need gauges from the same year, but you could always go to a scrap yard and try out clusters from the different years, and you might end up being lucky.
