got my my fog light bulbs installed

got the dealer to do it cause its winter here and i don't have the equipement to do it....anways it says that the stock bulbs for the fogs are 24 watt, and the new PIAA bulbs i got were 55 watts which is weird cause the manual says that they take 55 watt P3's

my question is....are my wiring harnesses going to melt because of this?

you shouldn't have any problems, I replaced my H3's recently with 55w Hella Yellow Stars and the factory bulbs were 55w as well. So far I have had no problems.

I've replaced my bulbs with 85watt PIAAs. Had them for a few months now, no problems. Also, I looked at my factory bulbs, I have an ES, but mine were 55watt bulbs.

Canadian spec P5's also use 55w H3's... I changed mine to "ultra whites", but will probably change them to HIAA amber ones soon.

Can you give us a step-by-step on removal? I tried it this weekend and thought the foglamp was a sealed unit, but I don't have a lot of experience.

I removed the big brass nut on the back of the lamp which released the lamp assembly and pulled it forward out of the front bumper. Do the wires unplug? What's next?

I'd like to replace my stock bulbs with yellow fog bulbs. Is the stock size "H3"?

Thanks for your help.

Once you have the whole lamp assembly out , u've overcome the most difficult part. If you want, you can trace along the fog light wire and find a connector and you can disconnect it. Others have just changed the bulb on the spot.

There should be 2 screws behind the fog light assembly. Just unscrew them and the lens should come off and you can get to the bulb.

Yes, it's H3

Awesome! I saw the screws but didn't want to go opening it up if it was a sealed beam. Since I know it's not, I can change out my bulbs.

I appreciate the help.

Can anyone reccommend a really good, yellow fog bulb in H3 size?

No prob Sporin

Anyway, with the recent hype of HID look bulbs, yellow H3's are not easy to find. A search in eBay shows a lot of HID look bulbs. PIAA makes good bulbs but they are expensive

Nightowl, where did it say the fogs are 24 watts? on the bulb itself?

I've found H3 55W Hella Yellow Stars online, but they seem to be on back order or out of stock everywhere.

Strange, i've never heard of 24 watt bulbs before. A quick search online doesn't give any.

Sporin, where did you see those Hella Yellow Stars? How much are they?

According to my dealer, they are 55w stock. When I mentioned about the possibility of a 24w bulb, he yelled to the parts manager who also confirmed 55w. (this is at a canadian dealership, so I can't comment on u.s. models).
