Guage clusters

Are all of the regular protege, 5, mazda speed, mp3 have the same pin out and connectors in their guage clusters to do an easy guage cluster swap or not?

I tried to get a cluster from a 2001 (later version) and it the temp gauge did not work on it (in my car only). Also the brake light stayed on continuously. I'm sure it was just a pin configuration problem. But it was my 3rd cluster and I wasn't going to mess with it anymore. So I had them get me a 99 specific one because I have a 99 protege ES.

So be careful, even if the harnesses fit... doesn't mean it will work properly for your car. Doesn't mean it's broken though either.

Also most people know, but remember that the mileage travels with the gauge not the car.

As far as I know, the 2002 + up models will work. Just plug and play.
