Help a moron out?

In another vehicle I currently have a JVC MP3 Deck 50x4 MAX Power(KD-SX980). I also have a pair of JVC 6-1/2 100W MAX (CS-HX622) and a pair of Kenwood 6x9 140W MAX (KFC-6904S) speakers. I was hoping to be able to swap all this into the Protege.

I am thinking of getting either the Best Kits BKMA1537B Pocket or Scosche MA1537B Pocket for the deck. Which is the better of the two to get?

I am also thinking of either the Best Kits BHA7901 Harness or Scosche MA03 Harness.
For install of the HU what all is involved. First remove the stock unit unplug the harness. Then plug the new purchased harness into the stock, then into the new HU. Are there more wires that I am completely missing or does the harness encompass all that is needed? Is there much more to it? Remember I don't really know anything, so if I sound completely like a moron, please forgive me.

Also... for the speaker install is it fairly simple as well? Can the stock wire be attached to the new speakers and it will work through the harness (or something ). Again am I missing the entire concept or anything?

Or do you think I should just have a shop do it.

Thanks for listening.

Considering most do the radio for under $45 i'd say yes.
The rear speakers, 6x9s will be fine they'll drop tight in. The 6 1/2s will fit but they will need to use 1/2 spacers that make the 6 1/2 fit, the stock size is 5x7, and space them off the window.

Most shops will want $60 for the front speaker install and $30 for the rear.

You can use the stock speaker wires but you'll have to cut off the connector clip at the end of them and attach crimp terminals.

I don't know which dash kit is better, I only use metra. They are probably close to even.

The wire harness you will buy and the one that attaches to the JVC will need to be connected together. Crimps, or soilder are fine. Some installers twist and tape but you'd better have supper 33 tape electrical tape and be very neat.

Also never use Max power ratings. Htey are totaly bullshit, irrelavant and frankly,
**** ME OFF

Your new so I'll let it go.

Thanks for the reply. So you think that I should have the shop do the HU?
As for the spacer you say 1/2 spacer, do you mean a 1/2" spacer or is there something called a 1/2 spacer. Also where would I get such a spacer?

As for...

I make my own spaces but you can buy them or have a shop make them. Basicly just a peice of 1/2 plastic or MDF that is cut out to your speakers size.

Why bother qouting not real power, RMS only please.

Thanks for all the repsonses.

I have made 'spacer like' things for another vehicle. See them here http://www.rporter.ca/speakers/speaker.jpg. Would the spacer for the 6-1/2's be similar to that only not a square but a full circle?

I only posted the Max power because that is the only power rating i could find for everything.. sorry.

I purchased the Best Kits kit that you mentioned and it is actually the scosche kit in a Best Kits package. They are the same thing. The build quality of it looked okay, but I got lucky and picked up an MP3 pocket at a local dealer for $20 so I didn't end up using it. I am using the Best Kits harness right now, it is working just fine.
