Unhappy HELP! Red Wire?

Does anyone know what the red wire coming out of the top of my wiring harnes from sounddomain is? There is a current coming from it, and if I connect it to the yellow wire, I get some power. However, it doesn't operate properly if I leave it this way. The only thing that happens is you can open up the motorized cd tray. What's wrong with this picture? Do you think that cardomain sent me the wrong wiring harness?

it still doesn't work???

I just went out to my car. The reds, yellows, and the black ( ground) were connected, and nothing. I'm thinking that maybe since teh only time I get the cd tray to open is when I connect the red with the yellow, when the car is off, that maybe the wires were switched. What do you think?

By the way. I really really appreciate you helping me. I was just about to go to circuit city and call it quits.

Thanks

Correct Sir!

You were right. I connected them to the battery and the unit worked for the first time. Now what this means, I'm not sure. But, I am sure happy that you made me aware that I didn't blow $200 on ebay. Pheew.

So, what's the next step in getting this thing to work like it should?

P.S. I'm at work and I keep sneeking out to my car to check this stuff.

I do have acess to a voltmeter. Another thing though, My keyless entry hasn't been working since I started this. Do you think that I blew a fuse? What should I do with the voltmeter?

Actually, I'm not an idiot. I just realized what to do with the voltmeter. Sorry for my super novice questions. I appreciate you being patient with me.

Thanks

FIXED

Alright, here is what I did. I used what you told me before about touching both the yel and the red wire to the positive terminal, and just hooked all four together. Both reds, and both yellows. The unit functions as it should now. How come it doesn't say in the manual that all four wires have to be connected together? This is right, isn't it?

Food for thought. The reason the keyless entry wasn't working was because the wires in the stereo weren't connected. Once they were all conected, the remote locked and unlocked the doors. Also, the door ajar light will not work when these are unconnected.

Thanks for all of your help. You saved me a lot of money, and a lot of worry. I owe you one.

Now, back to work.

2 RED- HU and WH
2 YELLOW - HU and WH

It is the only way the thing will work. All of the wires must be conected. Now, did you attempt to hook up the dimmer wire?

there are four total wires two of each color. I had to connect all four with one twist-cap.

My wiring harness didn't come with a dimmer wire. I might just leave it though. I don't need to dimm the HU anyways.

THe harness is screwed. It is a sosche from soundomain.com. I am going to see if they will send me a new one cause it doesn't keep time and none of the lights or anything work in my car now.
