help!!! sub quit working

Ok the other day I put an old school kicker 12" in my car with an old amp. friend got a new system and he gave this to me for free. anyway I have this in for one day and it works fine sounds great then I short peel out at this stoplight and the damn thing just stops working. from what I can tell the amp still works it's on and the fuse is good and the speaker isn't blown because there is no sound coming out at all. possibly a bad connection but the wires to the sub were solderd and we've double checked every other connection.

sorry for the book, and every bit of info is greatly appreciated

thank you

put a multimeter to the sub connectors, if it shows (subs rated ohms) then it's good, but if not, Poof!

also, you could test with another speaker, any speaker.

ok found out what happened. First we checked the amp by hooking it up to my xplods it worked. so then we decided to take the sub out and have a look. But the dumb a** that built the box siliconed it shut, yes even the sub to the box. so after an hour of peeling the sub from the box we find that the positive connection is broken, we will soldered it back on unless someone has any better ideas, then build another box but use the gaskets instead of the silicone.

When soldering, make sure NOT to heat it up too much. Just enough to get the solder flowing and thats it. That may have been an issue for the breakage.

Good to hear you figured it out.
