You're opening up a big can of worms, but it can be done.
You need to take the cupholder trim out (just pull up on it) - on the driver's side, inside the console, you'll see a wiring harness - you need to disconnect this - it is power for the O/D button and the lamp that illuminates the gear selector a night.
The trim around the shifter just snaps off - takes a little muscle to pull off (like you're gonna break something) but it does come out - two pieces, the silvery part on top, and a black section underneath nearly the same size - they come out one at a time. I believe you'll have to take the bulb housing for the little illumination lamp out also - but it's just a twist-and-pull affair, no big deal.
If you get the cupholder trim off, you'll start to see how this al goes together. Basically, when you pull the **** up and feel resistance, it's the O/D button wires holding the **** back. Knowing that, you should be able to get it removed - it's just a bit of a hassle to get the right pieces off so the wires thread through.
Did you get a Razo ****? The one with the O/D button? I'd like to know what you got, and see some pics when you're done - being a fellow boring-*** automatic driver and all .
