Question How to setup keyless trunk release???

Ok, I just went to my local Princess Auto store and bought some surplus door lock actuators....i know that i can hook this up to the trunk and sucessfully use this to pop the trunk......what i really want to do is find a way to use the keyless entry panic button to open up the trunk. I suspect that it would involve me doing quite a bit of rewiring (changing relays etc, etc.). Has anyone done this succesfully?? I don't even know where the relays are or anything. Does anyone have any wiring diagrams that might have done this (or pics) I have a 2002 Protege ES GT. I'm not sure what other information is necessarry but any help someone could provide me would be greatly appreciated

Thanks,
Elton

depending on the alarm, the panic button cannot be used for any other function, but other brands are able to program each button for whatever you want.

i don't think a doorlock motor is going to be strong enough to pop the trunk, only a few select cars have i been able to use one. You'd be better off with a solenoid.

my alarm FAQ has info on how to wire the relay for trunk pop. my site link is below my picture.

sorry i guess i might have used the wrong wording to describe what i thought was a solenoid........these are the same motors that me and my friend used on his civic to open his doors when he had the door handles shaved off.....when he pressed the unlock on his alarm the solenoids are activated which pull on the door handles/locks.....it's power then enough power for his door which are spring loaded so i'm very sure that it will be no problem for the trunk.

I'm not planing on using a car alarm i just want to rewire the factory keyless entry and use the panic button to open the trunk instead.

ok, yes, those will work fine for the trunk.

i highly doubt the panic button can be used though, not without an degree in electronics...as i bet it's within the chips processing and not a electrical function that can be tapped or bypassed.

but you probably could change the doorlocks to unlock all on the first press and use the second press to pop the trunk when needed. But again, re-wiring at the factory keyless is needed and i'm not positive this is possible.
