How to wire subs in parallel

I've got a silly question...

I'm getting two 10s soon, either 2 kicker cvr's or 2 mtx 6000's. i havent made up my mind. but how do u wire subs w/ DVC? i've got a mono amp, so do i hook up positive on the amp to a positive on one of the coils, then hook up all the positive terminals on all the coils ? and vice versa w/ the negatives ? does that work, or do u have to cut the positive wire before it reaches a terminal in the beginning ? lol...lemme know if thats clear...thanks

I'm gonna be running the MTX 4250D mono amp. I dont think it can handle a 1 ohm load. Ok...next question... one DVC or 2 single voice coils ? both 10's or 1 12 ? i'm confused. I dunno, i've got my car all wired, but i cant decide on subs. 1 DVC 12 ? 2 10's ? any suggestions ?

I think i'm gonna go w/ 2 10's. the MTX 6000's. Single voice coil. I got a good deal on them, 2 for 80 bucks, brand new. Plus shipping which is 30 tho. I'm not sure what i'm gonna do for a box. any suggestions ? i'm thinking of going with sealed.

When you are wiring them in parallel, do u have to cut the speaker wire in the middle ? then split it one cable to one sub ? or can u just connect the postive terminals together and the negative terminals together ? lol...thanks, i'm still a newbie

hi, i'm the occasionally late *******, here is a link to the specific topic, but you can use crutchfield advisor to answer many basic audio questions

umm no...
if you have 2 DVC subs you can wire it the same as me (running 2 DVC clarion's + 400W RMS clarion amp, can handle 2 ohm load)

1st sub = 4ohm // 4ohm = 2 ohm
2nd sub = 4ohm // 4ohm = 2 ohm

1st sub (2ohm) + 2nd sub (2ohm)= 4ohm

4ohm load + amp = max power

to wire a sub in parrallel (DVC of course)

you just connect + to + and - to - to form 1 connection

OK....Break it down for those of us who aren't that quick. What is the advantage of running in parallel? More power? Better sound? It's bad...I know how to do it but don't quite understand why I;d want to. Is it helpful to do this with speakers(running off an amp) or is this a bad thing?

By running the vocie coils in parallel, you would be presenting a lower impedance to the amp, which in turn would increase it's power output, hence more power to the speaker.
