I can't decide which speakers

I can't decide which speakers
I am getting a Alpine 4 channel amp that puts out 40 watts RMS. I am thinking about getting some Blaupunkt 6.5" components for the front that can handle 60 watts RMS. And I am not getting a sub. This part I am pretty sure about, unless you tell me that blaupunkt makes horrible speakers.
Now I am looking at 6x9s. I was just going to get some Blaupunkts to match the front speakers, they can handle 80 watts RMS. Then I came across their Overdirve 6x9s. They are DVC and can handle 75 watts RMS for each VC, but Blaupunkt recommends using the HU or small amp for the high/mid VC and a dedicated sub amp to power the low VC. So, I was thinking I could get a 70x2 power acoustik sterling amp to power the low VC. The price difference between getting the Overdrive 6x9s with the amp, and the cheaper 6x9s is $130.
In your opinion is it worth it to get the Overdrive 6x9s to add extra bass since I won't be getting a sub.
Please don't say get a sub because its not going to happen.
Thanks

I actually found a different site that has them quite a bit cheaper.
http://adleraudio.com They have the Overdrive components and 6x9s for $204 before shipping ($210 if I get the oversized comps). Everytime I think I find what I want, I find something better. I am now seriously thinking about getting these and losing the alpine amp for a 75x4 amp.
Are power acoustik's sterling amps any good. http://thezeb.com has a 70x4 for $140, and a 70x2 for $60. Plus they have speaker level inputs so I won't have to get converters to use the stock HU. Or if you could suggest any other amps with speaker level inputs with around 75 watts RMS per channel. I didn't want to spend more than $400 on speakers and amps.

Most likely I'm going to get raped by shipping charges. Shipping for the Overdrive comps and 6x9s is $70 2nd day air. That is the only way UPS delivers to Alaska. I emailed them about using USPS instead, but some places won't do that because somebody has to physically take the packages to the post office.
I can find the speakers cheaper on other sites but they won't ship to Alaska. I hate this damn freak state.
I don't think the autotek amps have speaker level inputs. Which means more money for line level converters. And its not that I don't have the extra money to spend, I just don't want to spend that much. The limit is $500 including shipping for speakers and amps. If I went with the PA sterling 70x4 and 70x2 I wouldn't be over my limit. I might even be able to get the PA sterling 85x4 and 85x2.
http://www.cszone.net has the 85x4 and 85x2 PA amps for $224.
http://adleraudio.com has the Overdrive comps, 6x9s, and 6.5 adapter plates for $215.

I have decided not to use the overdrive comps and maybe not even the 6x9s. I realized yesterday that I really didn't have a need for that much power and that I probably wouldn't use it. Still, however might get the 6x9s just to add bass like my original plan was.
Dave, your right, I haven't even listened to these speakers yet. I am going to Anchorage today to listen to speakers, pic up my grill from Mazda, and see The Recruit. Luckly it was freezing rain yesterday so that should make the 50 mile drive there and back interesting.

Very good plan there Dermen! AND be safe on those roads!! Most audio hardware can be purchased based on what you read, the feature and specifications, but speakers are truely subjective. What sounds good to my hear will sound terrrible to someone else without fail.
If you were thinking about doing serious competition with the system, then you might want to consider certain brands the historically have done very well, but in part that would be because they have been in the winner circle before, and there can be a link in a judges mind (which came first, the chicken or the egg- in this case that focal for example wins more SQ becuase of the sound or that judges tend to be bias to the brand? I can't really say for sure but have been a judge..)
I have two old 6x9 speakers in my shop from different manufacturers, and the frequency response curves look dead on the same but they sound like night and day! In turn I have heard two totally different speakers sound almost the same installed before. Indeed some of the most interesting installs I have seen have been where very different speakers that have been tonely matched or pair in setups. I actually rate those higher than "pure" one brand setups if they are done well.
Anyway- listen to as many brands as you can in Anchorage, and your friend cars. You will be living with them, and you are the final judge of if you like the sound you have!! So enjoy the "task" of going and listening, take a couple of your favorite CDs and try to get the sound as straight as possible, ideally in the same sound board without any added treble or bass, or an equalizer. Make it fun auditioning the different sounds.
The 6x9 should get you lower in sound, about to the 50 Hz range. Bass is a omni directional sound, meaning low notes if done right don't have a specific location to your ears like left of right. Play with tuning if you can to get the lows in the rear with the larger speakers, and the highs in the front, and you will end up with a nice sound stage!
Good luck and please let us all know what you decide on!!
P.S. you have a nice car on your signature!!
