Install auto-chromic rearview mirror

Finally got my factory auto-chromic rearview mirror installed. I spazzed out and broke the electrical power connector, of course since it's a factory connector I couldn't find any or make anything work. Luckily I was able to solder the thing together, and then inserted it properly. Anyhow I haven't tried the dimming feature yet on the road, but the compass is kinda cool as is the outside air temp. When I want to mess with people I'll change it to degrees C! Best of all is my gf says she doesn't like it, so I won't have to buy her one. Oh wait, she said the same thing initially about my shift ****. Guess what's in her car now?!

Hardest part of the install was running the wires from the temp sensor behind the front bumper through a grommet in the firewall. The instructions I had were printed out from a scanned version I found on the other forum so they were kind of blurry. It said to pierce the grommet which I think meant to make a new hole, being the person I am I had to pass the wires through the existing hole. Took a little finagling but finally got it to work. I like everything to be clean.

For anyone who wants pics, I can do that but not right now (insomnia sucks!) since it is still dark out.

I wanna get one of those, but it sounds like a pain to install ... I think I'll pass but kudos on the mod!

Thanks Krayzie. It really isn't that difficult as installations go, if you buy a new one (Mazdastuff.com had the best prices from my previous research) then the instructions would be very legible. My problem was that I bought it used from someone who was converting the car to a racecar, they weren't the original owner so didn't have the instructions. I didn't try it but you might be able to get a set from your local dealer too. If you lived closer I could help you out.

So how much did you pay for it again?
$190 for a mirror is kinda steep .. I'd much rather contribute the money towards a header or springs.

I paid about $100. I felt the price of a new one was a little steep too, but I might have eventually sucked it up and paid it. I would say just keep an eye out on eBay and msprotege, one may turn up for you sometime.
