"Kill Switch" alarms for P5
I'd like to get an alarm that shuts down the ignition during an attempted theft. The dealer told me it's just too complicated, that the entire ignition would need to be changed.
Is this true? Anybody know about other options? LoJack isn't available in my area, but I like the idea quite a bit.
Any information would be greatly appreciated...

I know there are several alarms with kill switches, and even standalone kill switches, usually located somewhere relatively hidden. jcwhitney has some. Some people hotwire their cigarette lighter, for instance, so it must be "plugged in" for the car to start. I don't know much about them however but I guarantee you it's not a big deal.

Whoever told you that an "ignition killing" alarm can't be installed or is a hassle is full of ****. Go somewhere else.
Any decent alarm (and many not-so-decent ones) kills the ignition if the alarm is tripped. If not - what's the use?

a kill switch is just a circut breaker, if the kill switch is not triggered there is no circut to start the car, it has nothing to do with the car's ignition, i dont know alot about cars but thats what i know about kill switches, any viper alarm has an availible kill switch, its just where you go to get it installed and if they know what they are doing, but honestly i have no idea how cars work. . .

the ignition should never be interupted, for safety reasons, cause if it were ever to fail, it could easily shut down on the freeway and you'd lose power to power assisted functions (brakes & steering)
only the starter should be cut. this also prevents ******** to sit there cranking the engine over for 5 mins straight wondering why it don't start...
thats why it's called a starter kill or engine disable, as all you get is silence and a blank stare from your dash cluster
