KX600.4 under front seats

Quick question. I'm set on upgrading my stock stereo with a Kicker KX600.4 4 chan amp powering a pair of 5x7 Infinity Kappas and a pair of 6.5 Kappas. Has anyone tried fitting a KX600.4 underneath the passenger's or driver's seat? Was ther enough air circulation to keep the amp from overheating?

Yea that's basically it for now. Thanks guys!

K well here are the size specs on the KX600.4 (these include the shroud that I think you were talking about blue ledz):
Length: 22.5 in
Width: 10 in
Height: 2.5 in

I don't know exactly the dimensions available underneath the passenger seats, but I'll check real quick....the amp'll fit without a doubt but heat *may* be an issue. If anyone has actually tried this out lemme know!

Thanks for the help guys,

my alpine 5 channel (300 watts rms) isn't pushing as many watts as yours ...but I have it under the drivers seat...and don't have any problems with it at all.

ummm well ok....here's the situation. The amp will have about an inch worth of clearance for height, and from what you guys are telling me, sounds like that's plenty to avoid overheating.

As far as width, it fits nearly perfectly underneath the seat, so it doesn't protrude into the back people's seats. The only real problem is length....the amp's 22.5" in length and there only seems to be around 20" worth of space underneath the seats. I asked a couple of shops as far as installing this amp underneath the passenger seat and they say no prob.

Sounds like they might be talking from their cracks cuz i don't see how they'll squeeze the thing in there, but hey, what do i know...i might try and get them to prove it to me.

Anyway, besides that update I'm gonna do some searching as far as where else to place the amp. Anyone have any suggestions as to where to place this monster? Seems like Mazda really squeezed every last inch into our P5s!

I don't think it will fit without sticking out from behind the seats.
Ususaly amps are just strapped to the rear seat. Either that or a false floor.

I'm also installing my amps under the front seats, can I screw them directly to the floor or do I need to use some sort of wooden board between the amps and the floor?

thanx-

You should always use a mounting board. Most all amps are chassis grounded so if you screw the amp to the floor you will creat a ground loop and many times get noise.

Does the thickness of the board matter?

I use 1/2" MDF to get a good screw bight, Alot of times I use a small space too to get the scre to totaly pierce the board without hitting metal.

when you screw them directly to the floor....BE VERY CARFULL on the drivers side....if you look under the car you will see a whole rack of tubing that runs from the front to the back of the car....and you REALLY don't want to run a screw through any of that tubing.....or even between it as the screw would end up rubbing on the tubing and eventually putting a hole in it.

Thanks for the warning SirNuke, I'm going to check for tubes/wiring under the car before doing the install, I don't want to mess anything up. It's probably just like the american protege but I want to make shure.
