Leather Seats for P5...
While looking at P5's at my local dealership, I saw one with leather seats. I've searched on the web and on this forum and haven't found anything about leather seat covers for P5's. Anybody seen these? Know who makes 'em?

yeah same here too. the dealer i bought my car from here in atlanta had a yellow P5 with leather seats. they were, to say the least, wild. yellow bolsters and black inserts. $1000 extra price tag though. but nice IMHO.

there IS a factory set of leather seats....it was/is a mid-year option.....however.....I have not seen any on a car yet.....all the leather seats I have seen were aftermarket and were VERY nice....I saw a red and a yellow with similar interiors....the red was Red/Black and of course the Yellow was Yellow/Black....and were done by local shops in Houston.... there is a company called Katzkins that makes sets for our cars.

I've seen a few P5's with the factory leather. Up here in Canada we don't have that as an option, so you must order the complete replacement seats from Mazda directly. I think they're like $2700 CAN or something. Anyways, the factory leather is color-coded to the car (for example black leather, with red inserts for my car) and features the "Protege 5" emblem centered just below the headrest. I believe the faux-suade door panels are leather too, but I'm not sure as all I have seen are the seats in a few cars. I work at a dealer up here, and word is that we'll get leather as an option before the year is up.

Hi Nick
I just got my P5 and had heated leather seats installed. The dealer did it but he sends it out to get done. I also know that two of the dealers up here in Edmonton use different seat shops. I asked for my original seat covers back and I saw that the leather seats are made or distributed by a company called Autoskin although it does say 'Made in Canada" on the box.
There does not seem to be a standard and mine are all black with no coloured inserts. I've seen the Protege logo embroidered on the seat but I did not get that as I was not too crazy about the look. Is there a factory set of leather seats? Since all of the P5s in Canada are assembled in Japan it would mean you would have to order it with the seats before it came over on the boat.
Cheers
Chris

Chris,
Sounds like a nice setup you have there! Where'd you put the switches for the heated seats?
To answer your question, yes, you can order a P5 directly from the factory with leather seats, however this option is not yet available to Canadian residents. I have no idea why, but we also can't get the SportMatic transmission yet, as well as side airbags and polished wheels. It does have it's advantages though, such as no roof racks, DRL's, and standard ABS.
Sorry for rambling on there, but back to the seats. You can order the factory leather seats right from Mazda, and then install them in place of your stock seats, but this is really expensive as you're getting a whole new seat, not just covers. I can say that the Mazda seats are really nice though, and although they're expensive, I think I'm going to take that route for my leather.
Hope I answered everything!
