Lights mod project pics 1

Its tricky...
Well the first light I disassembled was the left back up. I used a heat gun, which is what I used on my RX7's lights. However, the RX7 housing are really 2 pcs. actually sealed together w/some serious sealer, but they will come apart ok if carefull.
The 3's I found out dont like the heat gun. Some kinda newer plastic assy. process I suspect. As a result I have to replace that light. I'm gettin one this week from ALL FOREIGN USED AUTO PARTS. Come to find out they have a ton of 3 parts in excellent condition.
To answer your question, I used a thin cutting wheel on a Dremel tool. Then cleaned up the edges. I reassembled w/the 3M SUPER WEATHERSTRIP & GASKET ADHESIVE (BLACK). Time consuming basically, but like I said earlier it was a project or mod I could do for under $25.
Gonna do the fronts soon. The RX7 is getting crossdrilled rotors and EBC RED STUFF pads all the way around next.

I was curious, since the vibration welding is designed to be a permanent process. I'd bet the RX7 was just older & older plastic so it wasn't as strong of a joint. I've used a soldering iron for cutting plastic as well, only done the dremel thing with a small milling bit when at work.
