Unhappy Mileage for the car

Where is it stored? In the actual gauge cluster or elsewhere? When I called to get a new gauge cluster for my MP3 (Dont ask what happened to the orig) the guy asked me around what mileage do I want. I was like "huh?" I didnt think Mazda would be so dum as to store the mileage in the gauge cluster unit. Can anyone help?

Thanks,
Ray

Yea, I think it is stored in the actual cluster itself. Because I put a diff. cluster in mine then the mileage was different.

sure enough....the mileage is stored in the cluster....so you need to tell them what the mileage reading was before your cluster got damaged...this way you won't be reporting warrantee work when it MAY be out of warrantee according to mileage....THAT is why the dealer wants to know.
