Molded Carbon Fiber Dash kitor aluminum billet??

i hope i can eventually find one that is a decent price and looks good. i went to mazda to see about getting the piece in the center where the stereo and stuff is replaced, cause i stratched mine up putting my stereo in. It was $179 for a replacement. i decided for that price it doesnt look that bad. nobody else notices the scratches but me, but it annoys the crap out of me that they are there.

I did see on one website a spray paint supposedly made specifically for plastic auto interiors - it's supposed to penetrate the plastic, and give a very chip- and UV-resistant finish.
I'm considering a brighter shade of silver - and I'd carefully do the faceplate of my new deck also to get a real matching look.
As far as the kits, the one I saw had better be real aluminum - it was about $300, I think. I do believe it was the real stuff, just thin enough for stick-on application.

www.legendfive.com has a real aluminum kit for the 99-00 Proteges it might work with your P5 just go to the site and look at the layout plans and decided for yourself otherwise your only other choice is at www.nopionline.com they have kits from Florida trim for your P5 that look good. They are available in Carbon, Al, or solids...I'm thinking of the blue solid myself.

The kits at nopi are overlay not molded, meaning that they would replace le original ones. The email address at legend five does not work so I guess I will call them Thanks for the info

im also still looking around for these things. personally i dont care if its real carbon fiber or not, i just want one that will completely replace the whole thing. these overlays are crap IMO. i would rather go at it with some spray paint before i did an overlay.

This is a dash kit for the newer proteges, 01, 02. A little pricey for an overlay but who knoows what you can do. Group buy maybe?
The product looks pretty good too.

I got mine from here: http://www.customautotrim.com/catindex.html. When you heat the material with a heat gun to apply it it becomes flexible and fits the contour of the dash pretty well.
