With MP3 Car CD Players - Do We Truly Need CD Changers?

I've been contemplating my choices over the past few days with regards to car audio for my upcoming new 2002 Protege. I was going to get a car deck and cd changer but now I'm thinking I'll just get a car deck that has mp3 playback as well. It would mean that I could potentially fit over 100 songs on a cd if I'm not mistaken.

However, seeing that the Protege is Double DIN, how would I just install the Blaupunkt Los Angeles... Any suggestions or feedback?

a double DIN HU with mp3 playback? that sounds good.

or do what a lot of people are doing, putting in the mp3 HU at the bottom, and a DVD on the top deck, that'll be awesome!

Is there such a thing though as a double din mp3 playback hu? I just realized from your post that all the mp3/cd decks I've seen are just single din's....

Thumbs down

The recording companies are already working on an anti-recording cd, so we cannot rippem into mp3's. That sucks, hopefully someone can come up with a solution.

Kenwood makes a double din MP3 player. It has been talked about on this forum. http://www.protegeclub.com/forum/sho...MP3+Double+Din It will cost you though. Also check here: http://www.protegeclub.com/forum/sho...MP3+Double+Din

WELL you either put in a double din unit...or a single and a Pocket for ratholeing stuff.

as far as putting MP3's on a cd....depending on the cd you use.....figuring on average about 4 Meg PER Mp3........its more like 175 tunes PER cd.

yep....that is like 10 albums.....what in the world would you TRUELY need a changer for.
