mp3 cd player question

mp3 cd player question
Although this is a bit off topic from a typical Protege question, I have a problem concerning the delay between playing tracks on an mp3 cd. Is this a standard function of an mp3 data cd. The songs will play, however when I select to go to the next track, it will display the next track but the song will not be played for another 5 seconds or so. If there is not standard with mp3 data song discs then is there an ideal way to burn these cd's? Thank you for your help.

it takes alot longer for the deck to read an mp3 file because they're compressed more...mine usualy takes a couple more seconds than usual...i think its normal....it sucks though when you want to skip ahead like 20 songs

Different makes of MP3 CD player will take a longer or shorter time. Strange, but true.
Pioneer and Aiwa are among the longest delays between tracks from what I've read. I've got a Kenwood, and yes - it takes a few seconds, but it's not a big deal to me.
I'm hoping the next "generation" of MP3 CD players addresses some of these issues. I'd like to hear an MP3 version of Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon without breaks between tracks. And with 200+ tunes on hand with one CD, the file navigation/identification system needs a dramatic improvement.
But - I LOVE MY MP3!
Your delay sounds normal, but a few ways to cut the time down are: Rip the MP3s at a lower bitrate. The higher the bitrate, the longer it takes the player to read the info. 128 works fine for me, and has excellent sound quality. Rip at 192 for a good compromise of even better SQ and lower seek time. Also - shut off the ID3 tag display. It takes the player a second or so to read that, too - so not displaying it can shorten the track spacing also.
