MP3 Stereo Bracket!!
I have a P5,but will like to know where can i buy the HU Bracket that's on the MP3,the one with cover at the bottom. Called Mazda, they said that's from Kenwood. Does anyone have a part# for this item?

to the best of my knowledge the MP3 is just a single DIN install HU with the Mazda pocket underneath it (also used on some other Proteges).
The Mazda P/N I used to order the pocket (not cheap by the way, other single DIN pockets cost a lot less money) is BJ1H-66-9M0.

re: cost
for me it was ~$70 USD when I got the pocket. I like the spring loaded cover and the OEM look... totally no hassle installation... yadda yadda yadda...
re: Is the DIN ,and the lower pocket one piece?or 2 diff.piece?
the HU and the pocket are sepate single DIN components. 2 separate pieces. For the HU I just used the install kit that came with it.

Hehe - here we go again!
The pocket is between $70 and $100 at the dealer - ouch!
I got one for $40 off eBay - BUT!!! It's from a '99 Pro - so Mazda used the exact same pocket in other years (not sure which ones other than '99, but maybe a few before that, too).
Check some junkyards. I'd bet you can find one there, and they might only nail you for $10 or so.
It's a snap-in direct fit, and looks SOOOO much nicer and fits SOOOO much better than the aftermarket open pockets.
I swear - I must have been asked this (on the board and by those who email me directly) 30 times since I installed mine - I always advise the junkyard search.
Let us know if it is successful!

Just called Mazda the pocket cost $ 90.30,and it take 1 weeks to special order it. I never thought a plastic bracket with cover will cost that much. I'm definity going to check my local junkyard. Thanks for all the infos....

I bought this pocket and it does fit perfectly, but there seems to be too much verticle space for the deck. It kinda moves up and down a little. I have heard rumors that there is supposed to be another piece that tightens the fit between the pocket and the deck. Does anyone know if this is true, and if it is....what is the part number for this little bar that goes between the deck and the pocket, how much is it, etc....it didn't come with the pocket itself.

Easy fix for that issue:
Just wedge something between the deck mounting sleeve and the pocket. I used some thin foam packing material, and taped a few layers to the top of the pocket - cardboard would work as well for sure. Just tape it down to the top of the pocket to keep it from slipping out over time.
This will tighten up the deck (reduces all movement), and makes a nice snug fit. If you still have a thin gap between the face of the pocket and the deck's trim ring, pop the trim ring off, and use a piece of foam weatherstripping to fill the gap.
This is how my stuff is installed, and trust me - it looks and functions 100% perfect; I wouldn't live with it if it didn't. The deck is totally secure, and no gaps are visible anywhere.
Sometimes, a little MacGuyver-ing is a good thing.....
