New amp installed

Hey I have a mazda 3 hatchback with the factory 6-cd changer. Well im lookin to put a little more boom in my car, so i got a bazooka amp with two 12's.

Im looking to wire it up this weekend, but was curious as to where the "factory" mazda amp is? Because after reading up on everything that is the easiest way to set it all up.

Does anyone know the easiest way to hook up the new system and where the factory amp is located at ?

welcome to forum. I'm afraid I can't answer your question but I'm going to move your thread to the audio section where an audio mod may be able to help.

First of all, don't bother with the factory amp. It's going to cause you all kinds of problems. I'd just wire up the new amp in the car. You're going to need the adaptor to change over to RCA cables.
If you start hooking in with the factory amp, you're going to pull power away from the speakers, and put an even more load on the car. Most of the time the factory amp is hooked in with the wiring. And if you try pulling power from it to run a 12" sub. You could cause some unwanted damage. I knew a guy that added so much stuff to the wiring in his vehicle, he fried his engine computer because it was getting no power.
It's simpler just to run new wiring for the new amp. Plus it'll hit 10 times better, seeing the amp is only running the sub.

My setup

Hey man...thanks for the imput...this is basically the equipment i got and what im running.

i got a hi-low converter so i can hook up rca cables to the back of my 6-disc cd changer. Then i got a voodoo wiring kit 4/8 guage with the ground wire, distribution block, fuse, speaker wire and the a full amp wiring kit.

Im running a bazooka 800 watt amp with two infinity 12's in a sealed box.

So basically all i would do is hook up my new amp as if im running all of my wiring to a brand new head unit that i "would" install but in reality its the factory head unit as opposed to say a pioneer or something. So instead im running the rca's to that head unit, connecting it to my amp then running my amp to my subs, with all of this being connected to my battery?

Yep, wire in the converter for the RCA cables, run the power, remote and negative wire for the amp, and hookup the subs to the amp. Keep it simple. Good luck with you install.

what do you need a distribution block for if you only installed the one amp? or did you hook it up to the power on the other amp...
