new amp problem

new amp problem
Just replaced an amp that was almost ten years old (Kenwood KAC-524) with a new amp (Kenwood KAC-7251) and the new amp sounds great (alot more power to my component set). The problem now is I hear the dreaded whine when I'm accelerating. I didn't re-run any of the wires (used the existing wires for the other amp) but the other amp never had the noise. Is this new amp more sensitive?

I think I had a KAC-521 amp which was 20wattsx2, and like blue ledz says, you need to get thicker power and ground wire. Also, make sure that your RCA wires (aka patch cords) are run as far away from the power and ground to avoid the "whine" noise. I would also run the remote wire along side of the power wire to decrease chances of getting unwanted noise in your system. In my 2001 Protege, I ran the power wires on the driver's side and the RCAs on the passenger side. I had noise at first, but it was coming from a faulty component which has since been removed, which eliminated all noise. Do that and then you get no more "whining!"

Thanks for all the help guys, I'll try upgrading the wires to a thicker gauge and see if that helps. The current power/ground wires are pretty thin now that I think about it....I'll let ya know, thanks!
