New Head Unit what about an install kit???

I just bought a Kenwood KDC-MPV7019 and can't wait to install it. Trouble is where I bought it they say there is no install kit or wiring harness for my car yet. I looked on Crutchfield and it says the same thing. Has anyone run into this and if they did how did they overcome it if at all. I used the search feature and didn't see much info on this. Thanks for any help someone can give me on this.

I just purchased a h.u. and speakers from Crutchfield and got everything I needed. The only problem was that their database claims alot of h.u. do not fit- balony! I don't think they sell install kits or harness. I would return the unit you bought and get it from the big C. They may be more, but if you add up the harness cost, install kit, removal tools (not to mention cheap shipping and free returns) it is not that much more./ Plus you get advise and removal/install instructions. Customer service is excellent. I do not work for them, but I value honesty, integrity and good customer service more than 10 or 20 dollars. My .02 cents worth.

JasonKilpa, I also live in Delaware in New Castle to be exact and if you wanted to you could come up to a shop in my area and they would have exactly what you needed!!! I just got my Alpine 7995 put in this week and the pocket is perfect... I got it done at Audio Works!!! They really do know what they are doing!!! Not like some other shops like TWEETER (had bad experiences with them)!! And I'm sure you heard of some shops such as Audio Jam A.K.A. AUDIO SCAM and SOUND OF TRI STATE who steal your setup soon after they install it!!! I used to know someone who did this for them and they payed him very well!!! thats besides the point Audio Works is an honest audio shop not a very big shop but they know what their doing!!! I completely trust them with my car!!! But anyway that is what I would do if I were you just take a drive up here and coming from Dover after you pass the Air Force Base just keep going straight up and you dont have to take any exits!!! Once you pass a Walmart and Applebees its right on your right side little green and white building!!! They have what you need and they only charge I think $45 for HU installs!! Hope that helps!!

Yeah that helps out big time. I had just got off the phone with Sound of Tristate too and they said they have the kit and harness but the guy was such an *** about it. Like I should have just known. But anyways i will look for this place. Is it the Walmart up in New Castle you are talking about or the one in Dover? Thanks again

Thanks guys for all the help. I found a Metra kit here local and installed it myself over the weekend. I think it went in pretty good. I will post pics of it once I get some taken. Thanks again for all the help.

I got the Metra kit. It worked great. The hardest part of the whole install was getting the old one out. The right tab was pushed back behind the console instead of being on the side of the radio so I ended up having to take the old one apart a little to get it out clean.

The kit that I used from Metra was 88-00-9000. It worked great for me and is real secure. I checked also with Metra and it said that it would work for either a 2002 or 2001 so you should be ok with the same one. Good luck

How do you like the Kenwood KDC-MPV619? I bought mine because (1) it was a kenwood & (2) it was able to change to 1 of 67 display colors.

So far I love it. The color changing was a big thing for me cause I didn't like a blue or aqua face when all of my dash lights are in red. The sound it puts out is good too although I need to upgrade other areas on my system. I am also a big MP3 collector so being able to dump 200 MP3's on a CD and being able to play them is cool.
