New Sub Box ???
okay, so i am gonna build another box for two 12"s. i wanna mount a 5disc dvd changer in between the 2 sub chambers. i wanna keep the vibrations to a minimum so my discs don't skip so can i line the dvd's chamber with both dynamat and polyfill? or could i do without the polyfill or vice-versa? anyone with any other suggestions?
anyone?
anyone?

the gel pad would work well, as with lining ALL chambers of the box/enclosure with dynamat. Although the idea of having a fragile DVD/CD player between 2 thunderous subs is asking for trouble IMHO. but if done correctly (read expensively) it can be done.

yeah, it's: a) for looks and b) someplace to mount it.
i was thinking of constructing the box and having the dvd chamber mounted on a rack to "look" like it was part of the box, but i haven't figured that part out yet. seems like too much thinking and work for me. maybe i should just stick to a normal box...

I think I might have a really decent and cheap idea for you, if you have the space.
If you have ever seen a Fender-style electric guitar with it's back plate removed, you would see up to 5 springs in the back of the guitar - these put tension on the bridge. These springs are quite strong - not flimsy AT ALL, and are relatively cheap.
If you could mount your changer to a board, you could definitely use a bunch of these springs to isolate it. They are strong enough (trust me) that if you used like 5 per side, and even one or two on the bottom, that the changer would not get shaken like crazy over bumps in the road, but should get well isolated from sub vibrations. Believe me, with a bunch of these springs, the changer and board would be difficult to shake by hand - the whole car will move. But the springs might be just enough to absorb a lot of the vibrations from the subs, because they react well to "small" vibrations like that (as opposed to a big bump in the road), but will remian fairly solid for driving.
Damn - if only I lived in Hawaii, I could show you what I mean. But if you have any guitar-playing buddies, see if you can check those springs out - or go to a guitar shop and ask for them - ask for Fender-style tremolo springs for the back cavity - they'll know what you mean.
Ain't brainstorming FUN??

actually-
blue ledz: the only parts i am unsure of is measuring the curves of the box/opening. i can build the false face and brackets. i just hope i have enough depth to mount it (air vent, steel bar, air bag). i would like to do it w/o compromising anything.
hihisilva: my friends and i are all musicians! i play guitar, bass, keyboards, drums... and ukulele. that sounds like a good idea, i may look into that.
aaron- hooked like a huge fish!
