Talking okay I know please don't laugh at me..

okay I know this probably sucks but anyone know how a

4 CH1000W PYRAMID POWER AMP, 250w x 4 max power, adjustable xover

would be jsut for mainly powering a 12 inch sub I'm sure it's 200-250w sub, and possibly the door speakers??

I know it's not a super brand or anyhting but I am on a budget...

how much are you looking to spend on an amp? if anything, look at hifonics amps on ebay, they're good amps which won't break your wallet. here are a few others to consider:
-jbl
-kicker impulse
-pioneer
-sony xplod
-kenwood
all should do you just fine and should stay within your budget. and you can ask darryl (mazdaspeedwest) to hook you up with some car audio if you see him on the board...

I have been told that the Pyramid amps suck really bad......
I have never used one so I cannot say for sure, but if it was me,
I wouldn't risk buying one..............save a few more dollars and go for something that you know will last

I'm thinking Brycer79 might be on a limited budget, so he has this amp now..nothing you can really do except realize that your output is pretty much limited before you start to clip. Best thing to do until you get something else is back the gains down & don't try to overpower things cause you'll distort first & blow things up

Pymamid may suck. But you can take that cheap amp to a respectable car tunes shop and they should be able to reconfigure it so that its not so much like crap.

again, it's all about status and toys, right? seriously, would you want to show off your brand new 2002 protege5 slammed with a pyramid amp? treat your baby right, save a little (it's not as long as you'd think) and get something decent that would be worthy of your ride.

At my stereo shop we will not even attempt to repair Parmid amplifers. They are disposable. Skimp somewhere else maybe on the replacement of the factory speakers. These speakers crossed over are sometime better that aftermarket ones. Go buy a hyphonics off e bay, but buy from a reputable person. Some with no negitive feedback. I have been screwed on e bay before, be careful.

okay I found a solution...

I have a buddy who is an audiophile and he has all the nicee toys a sweet pheonix gold amp that he payed big $$$ for but sound sooooooooooo nice.. but anyways he told me about a liquidation place here in town that has refurbished good name brand amps and such so I am gonna go there 'cause he got his old amps there and said htey worked great... so I'll still follow a budget and geta better quality amp..

there ya go! and if you can get factory refurbished, that's just as good as brand new cause they don't let it leave until it's up to specs. phoenix gold amps can get a bit pricey, but look into the tantrum series. mid-level amps i believe, but pound for pound they'll hold their own against the rockfords, alpines, and kickers.

From my past experiences, refurbished is not as good as new. Thats why you often get a 3 month warranty instead of one year. If you can buy and extended warranty, do so. I have seen to many "as good as new" refurbished products.

If your not expecting to run the shat out of an amp, it's not too bad to go with a refurb. especially on a tight budget. Ususally in a refurb it's usually a component in the high current circuitry that has failed because people were trying to get all they can out of an underpowered amp.

I agree with some of the other posters here, if you're gonna skimp on any part of your system, let it be the speakers. Good solid, CLEAN power can make a shitty speaker sound a lot better than dirty power to a high quailty speaker...
