Opinions on WINDOW TINT
legal limit in iowa(where i live) is 70% in front and any% in rear windows. will this look stupid on such a small car if i went like 70 and then 35 all the way around? 70% won't be much tinting at all, will it? or screw the law?
opions please..........

I would stick with the same amount of tint all the way around. As far as getting pulled over, you might be able to find out from your local law enforcement agency how often they write a ticket for that. It should be a statistic somebody follows.

Personally i wouldnt want to roll with less than 50 all around, its not really that dark, if your state is like mine you can get a optomitrists note that says your eyes are sensitive to light and you need stronger than 70% tint...50 all around is pretty safe and probably wont attract too much attention in the first place

Here in BC, you can't have ANY tint in front. Yet, I always see people with near limo tint in front. I was never a fan of limo tint as it looks ghetto and is hard to see out of at night.
Go with 20% all around, and then with 50% in front. That way when compared to the back, your front windows won't look tinted at all
Let us know what you go for and post some pics if you can. If not then tell us what you think about it
good luck

70% tint is what the window is tinted when it comes off the dealership, so if you put anything on it then it becomes illegal. Go with 35% all around, it looks really good. I have that on my car and the only time I got harassed for it was when I got pulled over for speeding. I also live in Ny where the only tint you are allowed is the front window strip, nothing else.

This comes directly of a web site for window tint in PA, your state may vary!
An Officer CAN Stop you for illegal tint!!
If an officer noticed that he was unable to "see or view the inside of the vehicle through the windshield, side wing or side window " then YOU HAVE VIOLATED the PA Statute and HE WOULD have probable cause to stop your vehicle (not to search it), and cite you or prohibit you from operating your vehicle.
EVIDENCE OBTAINED ILLEGALLY IS NOT ADMISSIBLE IN COURT
If measurements of a window were taken without a search warrant or the owner's consent, a court would rule such evidence as inadmissible.
But as we know, THERE IS NO STATUTE IN PA BANNING TINT BELOW 70% , so even if the readings were admitted, they would be irrelevant. Not only are the meters not approved, there simply is no Law (Statute) that even mentions percentages or transmittances.
And SINCE THERE IS NO STATUTE BANNING TINT ALTOGETHER OR BY PERCENTAGES, if an officer stopped a vehicle only because he noticed the presence of tint, that would not constitute sufficient probable cause to warrant a vehicle stop and, as stated above, IT IS ILLEGAL FOR AN OFFICER TO STOP A VEHICLE WITHOUT PROBABLE CAUSE. Therefore the Court would rule that THE ENTIRE STOP WAS DONE IN VIOLATION OF THE RIGHTS OF THE CITIZEN AND WAS THEREFORE AN ILLEGAL ACT.

What I did at first was 35% all around (reflective). You could still see inside no probs. I added extra tint in the back windows.. so it's about 15% now.. nice and dark although I left my front windows at 35%.
But the thing is, when I leave my moonroof open, it actually makes a big difference! It doesn't seem as dark.
Go for 50% front and 35% all around.. it shouldn't be dramatic!!
Good luck

i went from 18% on all to 35% on all. I really liked the look of the 18% (slightly darker than 20%) but i was asking for it, especially in CA and especially in my town (known as tint *****) luckily i had a friend (hehehe) so when i got stopped it was no big deal....but he left the area.......and after 3 times in the same month, it was time for a change. Now, with the 35% i have no problems at all
For being in the biz for 6 years, i can honestly say that 35% is the best compromise between looks and the law.
Make sure to get a metallized film with a lifetime warranty!
