Over On E-Bay

While this is not directly a Protege audio issue, it would make the ulitmate sub for someones protege-

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...ndexURL=0&rd=1

There is a Velodyne car subwoofer for sale. This is not one of mine so I am not after a thing right. I have two of their 10's and two of the 12's in the box in my shop and they are some of my more prized hardware components units for use in some future projects.
I have one ten in my Sentra, and without a doubt this is the best SQ sub on the market bar none. That is a tall claim, but it is general agreement of everyone who has heard it, or reviewed them.
Velodyne built a better mousetrap, but discovered the car audio market is a hard place to compete, and margins are razor thin. Hence, these are no longer in production, and it is very seldom you see one come up for sale at all anymore. On the average I only see three or four for sale in a year, and this is the first one I have seen in 2002 at all!
Before folks have sticker shock, be aware these retialed for over a thousand dollars new, and the best deal I ever got new was 875.00. The price currently is a steal! I generally point my friends to the used velodynes when they come up, four of my friends now have them, including two national level competitiors in thier own personal cars. These are just as fine as they come...
Since you all here at the Protege Clubs audio section are my friends so I wanted to post this just so you might have a chance if interested.

I checked with the seller, the first and only owner of the sub- and he verifies it is a functioning unit. Never even really fully installed, or used for music! Only one bid so far, I may stop slapping my hand and bid for it, just what I need, another one!!

I think the Velodynes may be the only subwoofer ever made that might actually GO UP in value.

Dave, if you buy that thing and don't use it, guaranteed it'll be worth some bux to someone in a few years. Especially if the seller has all the right stuff, like the original box and documentation.

You never know......

Hey HH, no box, but all documentation. Heck I got the boxes now, so I could use one of mine, then box up this one, and then sell it!!
Something like the practice of law tells me there is a law against that though
I have some in the box still, and one in the Sentra, and it is a dream sub.
You are right, they are going up in value NIB.
Velodyne built a 15 inch monster, only three in circulation, two on a factory sponsered car, and one in the hands of an old friend of mine Peter Lufrano. Peter used to have the nicest upper end audio site on the web, and has done some of the nicest low key upper end installs I have ever seen. Now he is the importer of Brax and Helix amps in the country. Rough life!!
The guy who is bid on it so far lives in Lativa, which I am not knocking, but damn I would hate for a scare american resource like this to be allowed to leave the country! Amercian audio setups need American subs!!
