P5 audio head unit upgrade

anyone out there (I am sure someone must have done it) swap out the stock stereo in their P5 yet? I'm looking to put in my Kenwood Z919 and am wondering how painful this affair is going to be....

I'm chicken about cutting a lot of stuff, but if there is an aftermarket conversion kit I am game...

thanks!

Question MP3 dash

In looking at some pics of the '01 MP3 it would seem that the dash in it is almost identical to that of an '02 P5 other than the stereo (i.e. the facia that goes around it).

Anyone know if you can order that part of the dash? it might make for a nice/easy way to install a "standard" sized stereo in the car.

thanks.

Check this site out. Has a great tutorial on audio upgrades.

Also, I was reading somewhere that the box that mounts below the stereo on a 99 or 00 Protege will mount under a DIN size stereo perfectly. (sorry, can't remember where I read that) You should be able to get one from a wrecked car or your dealer. The dash opening is exactly the same size as a 99 or 00 I believe.
