Pioneer Dvd Not Playing

Is it true that while you are driving a movie cannot be displayed from an indash pioneer tv? I read that it only works when in park.

I'm not asking if it is illegal, I already knew that it was illegal.. but thanks for reinforming me though.. I just wanted to know if you can drive and have a movie on at the same time cuz I read somewhere that you couldn't.. It's probably some extra wire that hooks up somewhere where it knows what gear your in but I guess you don't have to have it if your able to watch movies and drive at the same time. I'm gonna have my radio set on top of the screen MAYBE so it's not that easily seen from the outside.

Thanks for the replies

I know with some units u can just ground the "safety" cables. The alpine for example, you tap the wires into power and ground(forgot which gets what) and you need a momentary push button switch (to simulate the foot break) and a toggle (simulates the Ebrake). You have the toggle off, hold down the push button, flip the toggle - on-off- on , and then release the push bottom -- viola, working unit w/o the car being in park

pioneers come with a wire that an installer is supposed to hook up to the e brake and when the e brake is engaged, the screen will work, most shops just cut that wire off so it can play while driving...

Actually you do not just cut the wire off you would ground it. That would simulate having the ebrake on. Atleast that is how my Kenwood is, and the Eclipse and Panasonic I have installed as well are like that too. Pioneer may be the same or it may be similar to Alpine's funky setup.
