Ported Rear Deck?

I've Been toying with this idea. Basicly take some 'ports' for a ported sub box, and install them in the back deck of my car. That way I don't have to drive around with the seats folded down.
Would this be a waste of time?

Why do you drive around with the seats down???

The bass from my sub travels through my back seat just fine. If anything just remove the rear deck speakers.

Also I'm wondering around what kind of DB rating i'm putting out with two Thunder8000 12 inch MTX subs In a sealed box driven by an 820 watt PowerAcustik (180x2 RMS at 4Ohm's) with a Sony CDX-M730 deck.

It pounds good and loud, but I have no idea what sorta DB's i'm putting out.

the size of you box also matters. You can not simply just go off of the size of the amp and speakers. If your box is the right size for the amp and is tuned right, then you will have a kickass system. Your running a sealed box, that is where size does matter. Not enough airspace inside the box your sysem will sound good, but have distortion. IF you use ported the subs will hit hard as hell, but they will only hit real hard on one freq. because they are tuned to that. The rest of the freq. will sound good, just not as good as the tuned freq. I have built many boxes in the effort to find the right box. I use JL audio. I do installs, and custom box building in my spare time. I have all the info on how to do it. Plus I talk to JL Audio techs all the time. If you need help PM me.

What kinda car do you have? The P5 you should just take the deck out. If not the P5 make sure you have a decent box. I was going to do that in my old pontiac. You can get the ducts kinda cheap. Then you also gotta worry bout the box moving around in the trunk. If its gonna be ported you dont want to have something snap and you look back and wreck and ... ya know.

RU talking something like this?
