Question about speaker set up in p5

Judging by what people are posting, the 2002.5 p5s have 6 speakers total(2 tweets, 2 fronts, 2 rears)? I thought they were only 4. I am planning on getting my p5 sometime soon and so I would be buying a 2002.5 model. IF the p5s have 6, then that is lovely. Can some clear this up for me. One

The 2002.5 P5 has tweeters, it does help raise the sound stage a bit. So that would be six speakers, but don't be expecting a sweet stock system! If you are serious about sound, then def. consider upgrading the speakers. I like the stock tweeters only b/c it allows me to install components without too much custom work and still look stock.

yes msiqbal is right

Stock HU = sux
Stock speakers = sux

but i recommend upgrading the HU first as it is the base of all stereo upgrades, even if you just get a new HU the stock speakers will sound 100 times better

Well, I was going to change the stock speakers and HU. That is a given, but I am wondering about the tweets. Should, I just use the stock tweets or should I change those too? Thanks pr5owner and thanks msiqbal

I would check out some component speakers to replace the whole front set of speakers. This would be better than just "attaching" the tweeter ontop of the system. A component set has a matching crossover to match the freq response of both the tweeter and mid-range, so that overlaps are minimized and each working in its optimum freq range.

There is a pretty good thread on the board about this, with photos- it is now on the second page of topic postings.

A quote regarding the stock 2002.5 tweeters-

They are a little less than 1 inch. I mounted the tweeters that came with my boston acoustics rc620 and it is a 1 inch. All I did was remove the inner plastic ring that holds the stock tweeter place and the boston tweeter fit in there fine. I put a circle of dynamat extreme on the back of the tweeter and the pressure holds the tweeter in just fine. No problems with the setup in the 3 months i have had the car and it looks just like stock.

One inch tweeters, componenet sets- would be the way to go-
