Quick MSP/MP5 audio question...
As many have said on this site, the MP5 speakers aren't the best, and it definitly lacks power. When I bought the car, I opted for the In-dash 6CD changer, so I don't want to just put a new head unit in the car. That was a decent investment. SO...
Q1: Can I by an aftermarket amp and some speakers, and still keep my Head Unit, or would the head unit have to be replaced aswell.
Q2: Does the MSP comes with the same In Dash 6-CD Changer, and/or would the amp from the MSP be compatible with my stock head unit?
Q2a: If so, does anyone know of someone who might be selling any components from the MSP system, and how much do you think they would go for, ballpark.
That's probably a lot to handle, but I hope somebody could get back to me on that. I would really appreciate it. As many have said, it's fine when it's low, but once you decide to crank up the system, yikes. Thanks to anybody who gets back to me!

Re: Quick MSP/MP5 audio question...
some quick answers....
Yes, you can. But in order to do it you will either need to get an amp that accepts high level inputs (i.e. speaker output from the HU) or get some decent LOCs (line-out-converters, I think that is what it means).
In either case, you can get a pair of connectors that would allow you to break out the speaker connections from the HU without cutting any wires. You basically get one that plugs into the HU and one that plugs into the wiring harness and only interconnect the signals that are needed, that way you can get at the speaker connections. If you got daring (and trusted the stock wiring to be sufficient) you might even put the amp somewhere under the dash and then use the stock wires to bring power out to the speakers.
No, the MSP comes with an "aftermarket" Kenwood system in it. Very different than the stock system.
Sorry, can't help ya there...
good luck and welcome to the club... Sir Nuke should be along shortly with the "formal" welcome

YES you can ..... and you can have a real good system too. I have the 6 disc changer still in my car. an Alpine V-power 5 channel amp, upgraded all the door speakers and added the sub....its great and was a fairly easy install.

More info
Thanks a lot! Do you think you could e-mail me with either some pics, or something like that, and (if you don't mind) how much everything ended up costing? My e-mail is MGBNL@optonline.net, but you could also floow up with something on the board if you like.

running?
Is this what your amp is?

I think this will do the trick, since it has the speaker level inputs, and has pre-amp level outputs.
One reviewer said:
"I purchased this amp brand new from CC for $139.00. It is pushing 2 Infinity 6x9 coaxials, 2 Infinity 4 inch coaxials, and a 12 inch xtant subwoofer all to an Alpine cd deck and it sound awesome. This amp is incredible for the money. My system sounds clean and clear with deep bass."
Thats good news to me, because I might go with some infinity speakers down the line.
Thanks to everyone for the help so far.
