Recommendations for rear 2002 ES speakers
I just took delivery last night of my 2002 ES and the rear shelf speakers are too tinny. Does anyone have a recommendation for a direct replacement 6x9 for it? I'm not a big audiophile like some of you, but the sound is poor. I cannot believe this is the same company that made the system on my wife's 200 MPV Es because that system sounds GREAT! Comes with component front speakers and a sub right from the factory.
Thanks

well im a huge jbl fan, and the GTO series is superb.... but jl audio and eclipse really are the big names car audio wise (atleast in my mind)....
id recommend the jbl gtos though, they are relatively cheap (crutchfield has them for about 100 bucks) just stay away from the loud and clear series. also for the rear i always like a 3 way speakers, really brightens up the rear, and up front i usually go 2 way, dont ask me why, i just do.

I really like MB Quarts, but you have to go and listen to speakers to see what you like. Every persons hearing is different, so speaker selection is totally subjective. What sounds awesome to me, might sound terrible to you or someone else.

Best thing to do is search the net for speaker reviews. Find the speakers in your price range, then read their reviews. Everyone will recommend different brands when it comes to car audio. Problem is, no one has ever really listened to every different speaker or been able to tell the difference in sound between all of them. Find one you like, then go listen to it and make your decision.
My preference, Boston Acoustics. I've compared them to Pioneer, Fosgate, Clarion, Kenwood and Sony. They were my favorite. Also as a plus, the Boston 6.5 speakers have hole spacing for 4 screw and 3 screw configurations. So if you have a P5 the Boston speakers will fit right into the rear door without any problems.
