Roof rack eliminator??

Ok i know this has been talked about before , but i couldnt find it.

i know the canadian p5's come without roof racks right?

but can we in the u.s. buy the pieces, that allow you to take the roof rack rails off?? im not talking the cross pieces, i mean the big long grey plastic rails that attach the roof racks to the car, that run from front to back.

anyone know where to get them or how much they cost??

I don't know how much they cost, but they are available in the US. The 2003 (1/2?) models are offered without the entire roof rack assembly. Just check with your Mazda dealer.

I looked into this for another American member on this board. My dealer quoted me $58.80 CAD for each rail insert.

Hey no problem... I'm almost starting to think I'd like the US roof rack look. I'm not sure though... I wouldn't really have a use for the rack, but my g/f said she'd like to have it anyways... Gonna have to find out how much the pieces are...

They don't cost that much more in US funds. He got ripped. I emailed MazdaStuff.com about them (btw-they're a mazda dealer in Austin Tx)They knew exactly what I was talking about and said they were 29.35 each but dont' sell over the net as they tend to get bentup easily when they are mailed.

I assume he went through a dealer, so that would explain why he paid so much... but hey, he's happy with them and there's nothing he can do about it now... but good find on the price from MazdaStuff.com!!

Actually a dealer down here quoted me around same amount as the mazdastuff price (I don't remember the exact price), so it isn't all dealers.

I'd like to apologize. When the parts I ordered that they told me cost 30 USD each arrived they ended up being the wrong parts. It was the 12" piece used with the roofrack. Apparently they have a very similar number. They do cost 60 USD apiece. Mazdastuff quoted me prices for the wrong part. Cause it was their part numbers that my local dealer used to order from. So once again I'd like to apologize for what I said earlier, I was in error.
