Cold? Try, FRIGGIN' COLD!!!!

No, the plastic ring does not come off with the ****. And I assume you are talking about the ring at the top of the boot. What I did was romoved the boot, ripped the ring off the boot, (it's glued on at the top) flipped the boot inside out, zip tied the boot to the shaft, flipped the boot right-side out, reinstalled the console, and threaded the **** down over the boot. It turned out pretty good, me thinks. However, when I eventually get a short shifter, I am going to try and rig-up a civic type r boot, since it has a nice trim ring at the top.

My one question is. does that plastic ring come off with the ****??

And, the **** I have on my honda, that bugger is hot in the summer, we have winter here, so I would assume this **** would be colder than hell on the skin. (like frost bit)

You really don't need gloves, but it helps. The only time you HAVE to touch the shifter is when you are shifting. In the winter, I wear leather gloves only because it is cold out side!

I can't answer the plastic ring question. Njaremka probably can.

The polished ***** will get very hot in the summer and very cold in the winter. That's its unique flaw. I believe they sell knit covers or something like that for the voodoo. A pain, in my opinion. Or you can opt for a nice pair of driving gloves. A pain too, if you're only going for a short trip to the grocery.

The black textured **** you keep mentioning will get real hot in the summer as well if it's metal. And if your car is not out in the sun, it too will be cold in the winter.

If your desire to reduce shifter length by 1 inch justifies this inconvenience, go ahead, but if not, I'd stick to your stock shifter, or get a nice heavy leather one, like the one I mentioned before.

My Ichibahn Shift **** is similar to the Voodoo one, and I think looks much better...aluminium as well....sooooo dam cold in Calgary....I wear those cheap $1 gloves on my right hand so it doesnt freeze, I find it more comfortable at times to have my hand on the shift **** and the glove really helps...
