Okay with all this talk of Voodoo and Momo shifter *****, has anyone checked out the Grant shifter *****? I recently saw a Grant **** at my local auto accessory store and I was pleasantly surprised. First of all the one I was looking at was yellow and black (matches my P5) and it had some ergonomic features such as depressions to fit your hand better. I think I will be going with this one but wanted to hear if anyone has even used this brand of ****. Here is a link I found to see some pics:

Chris,

An ergonomic ****, such as the grant you refer to, forces you to use it exactly the way it's intending for your hand to grip it...ie: one way only.

I hold the shifter in different positions depending on what shift I'm making, or how quickly I need to make it. As such, the Voodoo is perfect. I can lay my hand on top of it, pistol grip it, split my fingers around it, etc...it fits in all situations.

YMMV
Thanks Richard, I was thinking the same thing as I have been looking at how I have been shifting recently and thinking about that ****. I did notice that I hold or move the stick differently depening on the situation as you say. Hmmm, I will have to do some more thinking.

Question

I am thinking about getting a Voodoo **** and want to know if there will be a gap between my boot and the **** and if so, what do I have to do to fill that gap??? Where can I find whatever it is that I need.....a specific website perhaps?

Thanks guys!

Cool

To keep the sun from heating up the shift **** you could try buying one of those little bags for sun-glasses, possibly one that matches your car so it wouldnt look so outta place. Try asking some females if they have a make-up bag or something like that might work. Women have everyhting...hehehe...

I believe there may be a small gap, but the person I contacted about ordering a Voodoo **** also sold a small ring that could be used in conjunction with the **** in order to mask the gap. Look back at the first few posts of this thread. There is talk of how one person slightly modified there OEM boot to eliminate the gap.

Let me know how it works out for you as I am very interested in ordering one as well...and I would like to see some pictures of how the pearl one looks.

that ring will not work with the magnum **** because the base of the magnum is bigger.

it is a REAL simple modification to make you boot look good with the ****. there is a plastic ring at the top of the boot, take the boot out of the car and rip that ring out of there. turn the boot inside out, and zip tie the top of the boot to the shifter shaft. reattach the boot to the console, and screw the **** down onto the shaft. prest-o-change-o, it will look like this:

the pearl **** looks pretty damn good against the silver dash/console pieces. strictly speaking, you don't need to modify anything with the boot but it does look a little rough b/c the top of the boot isn't finished well. that boot modification that njaremka did would be a good idea for a more finished look.

the **** itself feels great. a little heavier so the shifts are a little lighter, but it just feels better in the hand too. dampends the vibration of the engine a bit more too since it's heavier.

sorry, i don't have any pics yet but i am really happy with it.

Alco,
I see you are in Canada too, where did you order from? Did you get the Magnum or a regular sized one?

That's alright then, there is a guy out of Toronto that sells them and he charges 58 Cdn for the ****, that includes 5 bucks for shipping via Canada post (3 days I suspect). I thought it was a good deal just wanted to check out other sources....he has the extra ring that eliminates any gap, and finishes off the look for a standard ****. If you want I can get his number for you. I think the ring is 16 Cdn or something.

i'm not sure what the deal is with a gap. mine screwed down tight to the sleeve that holds the boot up on the stick and it's fine. all i need is maybe a small black or silver washer to cover the rough part of the boot.

the $58cdn is a better deal (b/c of shipping). oh well. when i was searching, that deal didn't pop up.

Ok...that's cool then. Do you have a short shifter or just the stock unit?

I'm thinking of going for the Pearl Standard **** as well...I bet it looks amazing. If you get a chance to post some pics then do so please.
