Shooting Flames
#2
yo if you pick up a Sport Compact Car, there is a company that ALWAYS advertises in there who sells what you want. Its called a "Flame Thrower" and its like 125 bucks. shoots up to like 20 feet. Mad illegal, but worth it I think.

not illegal. it's just "not legal for public roadway use". In your driveway or at the track you're golden. they work real well, but I wouldn't use them on a turbo car. Also, they will not work if you have your catalytic convertors. also, unless you have a flowmaster style muffler you're going to destroy your muffler. You basically wire up an ignition coil to a spark plug that is tapped into your exhaust pipe. Wire in their ignition module and when you rev the car up you push this button. It shuts off your spark so the unburnt fuel goes into your exhaust where it's ignited by the spark plug. With a turbo the exhuast housing gets hot enough to detonate it between the turbo and first cat. Secondly the cats on the car will catch most of the unburnt fuel weakening it's performance, lastly if you wire this stuff BEFORE the sport muffler on the MSP you will have fire blowing through your muffler which will eat it up. That is why you see it on older cars....cars without cats, cars without mufflers....It's neat if you want to do it, but it won't be easy or cheap.

My understanding is that although they are both hydrocarbons, the fact that nitromethane contains the element Nitrogen, whereas alcohol does not, makes nitromethane something other than an alcohol.
nitromethane: CH3NO2
methanol: CH3OH3

both fuels are used
Methanol: pure methyl alcohol produced by synthesis; used in Top Alcohol Dragsters and Top Alcohol Funny Cars.
Nitromethane: Produced specifically as a fuel for drag racing, it is the result of a chemical reaction between nitric acid and propane.

You could always get a ghetto kit.
Instead of using unburned fuel you get a kit that runns a tube to the back of the exhaust and then shoots something back that gets lit up by a spark plug.
I dont know how safe they are but I have seen them.
