I cut the wires in the doors for my new speakers - sure they are thin, but they were still good and soft and all. I mean, my P5 was only a few months old at the time.

I'm not knocking you for re-wiring - it's not that is a BAD idea. But until you get some serious power in there, the stock wires are fine as long as they are in good condition.

Since yours were brittle and such, a rewire was a good idea regaredless, I suppose.
